This paragraph is kind of obvious… and the one domain that remains mostly out of your control.
Yes, the buzz you’ll generate around your work is the most efficient way of standing out of the crowd. I feel entirely at loss on how to achieve a buzz, even a moderate one. It might require the ‘good’ ideas, at the ‘right’ time, with the ‘hype’ technology… The person who reads this and has some experience is welcome to leave a comment!

Discipline is the key word when it comes to software engineering. Try to write a program unordently and you’ll see only bad results… or most probably no result at all! Another challenge for the software creator is to make money from his or her work. There again, it’ll require another dose of discipline.
After many thoughts and researches I’ve come up with a list of keys that will help me to become a sucessful software creator. Because discipline is the main word here I’ve decided to run that list against all new projects I’ll start in the future. No matter what, unless they turn out to be a mistake. However the more I think about it the more I wish I had followed these steps in the past.

I’ve started to write this plugin to have a greater control over some layout features in WordPress. I’ll add more functions as I feel a need for new features or get any suggestions.

alew_teaser ( [string min_height [, string max_height [, string more_link_text [, string allowable_tags]]]] )
This function may replace the_content() when you want to display only the teaser. alew_teaser(), in a same manner, will force WordPress to display the part of the post (or page) above the quicktag <!–more–>. the_content(), on the contrary, lets WordPress choose on its own whether it should display the teaser or the full content.
