Key #6: Keep the costs down
In such a highly competitive market, being able to keep the costs down to a bare minimum is a key to succeed. Various paths to achieve it:
- Try to work by yourself if you can. You’ll not only save on payroll but also on time you’ll communicate with other programmers.
- There are times when it’s preferable to hire programmers. Coding is time expensive and if you spend time coding only and not taking care of your clients, you might loose as well. And truly, you’ll start making money only if you’re able to leverage the work from others. If you keep the work simple, and it should remain so if you program egocentric applications, I would suggest hiring students as freelancers or outsourcing to programmers in countries where labor is cheaper.
