Keys to creating software (and making money...)
Discipline is the key word when it comes to software engineering. Try to write a program unordently and you’ll see only bad results… or most probably no result at all! Another challenge for the software creator is to make money from his or her work. There again, it’ll require another dose of discipline.
After many thoughts and researches I’ve come up with a list of keys that will help me to become a sucessful software creator. Because discipline is the main word here I’ve decided to run that list against all new projects I’ll start in the future. No matter what, unless they turn out to be a mistake. However the more I think about it the more I wish I had followed these steps in the past.

This paragraph is kind of obvious… and the one domain that remains mostly out of your control.
Yes, the buzz you’ll generate around your work is the most efficient way of standing out of the crowd. I feel entirely at loss on how to achieve a buzz, even a moderate one. It might require the ‘good’ ideas, at the ‘right’ time, with the ‘hype’ technology… The person who reads this and has some experience is welcome to leave a comment!

Your application should be responsive (if not speedy), have a nice design (combined with great usability), offer plenty of features (even those your customers won’t use), and I’m leaving all the rest to you.
As you might have guessed, your customers (including me) want the best. This means you need to beat the competition and the features of their next release! The smart programmers like you will incorporate some features not found in other products.
